Here’s why FTC will play the Politically right Advocate with its Microsoft court battle. FTC vs Microsoft

With each passing court session, the anticipation among the gaming community escalates, especially when it comes to Xbox.

Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission(FTC) will witness many court sessions, as the regulator (i.e. the FTC) and the company(Microsoft) will engage in a rigorous war of legal points, thereby try and disprove each other’s points. They will be locking horns, defending their arguments, and seeking what’s advantageous to each of them.

Microsoft’s Xbox, their gaming division, has long been criticized by their competitor Sony’s loyalists for the lack of exclusive games for their previous generation consoles i.e. from the Xbox One era, while their competitor Sony had many in their PS 4 Game catalog. But now Microsoft seems to be in no mood to repeat the mistakes of the Past for their current generation “Series”( Series X & S) consoles.

With a heightened sense of awareness about their past mistakes, Microsoft will use everything in its arsenal to fight the case to get Activision Blizzard under its umbrella.

The FTC will try its best to make it seem that Microsoft cannot be trusted with its Activision Blizzard acquisition. They might try and corner Microsoft into agreeing, that the acquisition would benefit them more compared to other platforms.

Why FTC will try and look Politically Right? (Yes like a politically correct Politician)

Make no mistake the FTC here might try to play the role of a politically right body. Microsoft being an American software Giant, and Sony corporation having its origins in Japan, the FTC will try its best to make sure it is on a level playing field. It will take the role of a governing body that oversees everyone, every company has a fair and equal chance. At least that’s how it would make it look like. Afterall it  goes back to Obama times when efforts were made to try to make it easier for companies to set shop in America. So in FTC’s mind, it shouldn’t look like it is taking the side of a Giant American corporation.

And bear in mind this is despite the fact that Sony’s PlayStation has a lead over Xbox when it comes to exclusive Games.

Microsoft may be at a slight disadvantage here, the reason being they made Starfield and a couple of other games Xbox exclusive months/years after it came under the Microsoft/xbox umbrella. So to play the devil’s advocate its all upto the FTC Lawyers on how many times they want to bring up this point.

Lots of Sony siders or Sony’s argument would be about how Microsoft, even if it makes Activizion Blizzard games available on their Platform, it may not be of same quality as that of Xbox consoles. They fear the quality of textures used on 3d objects might be of lower quality compared to that on Microsoft’s machines.

Why might Sony fear that?

May be (According to many Gamers) from the fact that Sony did the same when it ported a few Playsation 4 Games onto PC. Many complained the quality of PC Graphics against Playsation 4 and found out it was not up to the mark.
